From OCM magazine:
"Albanian outfit Albatros sends a surprising mixture of semi-climbers and a sprinter. Gilbert Roogaars and his team will probably not catch much attention, maybe he should try a breakaway in stage 2. No Guts no Glory!"
And glorious it was! Newborn Captain Gilbert Roogaars was more succesfull then anybody had expected. After holding up in the first flat TT stage (35th) and coming in 6th in the hill stage Roogaars won the first climbing stage (!), came in 6th in the King's stage and did reasonably well in the climbing TT stage (22nd). In the final sprinting stage he finished safely as 15 th. This all resulted in a 3rd spot in the sprinting classification and a 6th place in the GC. Albatros won over 20,000$ in price money in this tour wich is more then they have ever won. For Gilbert Roogaars, who is only 26 and still has potential to grow, it was a special week: "I knew I had some chances here but I had not expected it to be like this. It's the first time I am captain you know! We were aiming for a top 15 spot in GC and one or two top 10 finishes in the mountain stages. After reading in OCM Magazine that my greatest hope for a result was breaking away in the hill stage I must say it gave me and the team extra motivation to show the world what we are made of. And we did". No Guts, no Glory!
